A recent news article released by NC State University discussed findings from a research study currently being conducted in the NCSU Phytotron. The focus of the study is to develop a better understanding of how crops, like cucumbers, might be impacted by contaminated irrigation water that is applied through overhead spray or by contaminated water used for foliar plant sprays. The study was conducted by Dr. Kellie Burris, an NCSU post-doctoral scholar that has recently been hired as a staff fellow microbiologist by the Food and Drug Administration.
